Erasmus+ “Discover the World of the Tree”

POLAND – OCTOBER 2022

Following our participation in the above-mentioned mobility programme we would like to report our experience. We accompanied a group of 4 students. Our stay was 5 nights / 4 days in total. All the delegations stayed in the same hotel, including our hosts (4 students, and 2 teachers). We found this extremely beneficial to the programme’s purpose as it helped us all build a rapport and a sense of togetherness from the start.

The Jesuit school of Gdynia hosted us. The workshops we attended varied and were all related to the programme’s central idea. On the first day, as part of those workshops, we visited Marszewo forest and then the host school for two afternoon workshops. On our second day, we visited Gdansk’s Sea museum and science centre. On the third day, we visited Torun and, more specifically, the Planetarium as well as the House of Gingerbread. On our fourth day, we visited the Aquarium of Gdynia, where kids attended a workshop after spending some time looking at the exhibits. We then returned to the school for an afternoon seminal and the project summary.

All in all, we felt it was a highly educational experience for both educators and students. We managed to exchange best practices, ideas as well as resources. It has been a truly beneficial opportunity as we saw how other schools operate and discussed different educational approaches with our fellow teachers from Lithuania, Poland and Latvia. Moreover, the kids had the chance to practice their skills and knowledge whilst using English. Most importantly they met, got to know and collaborated with kids from the partner countries (Lithuania, Poland and Latvia) which was a unique and unforgettable experience as they were exposed to a different daily routine. They responded well to this and were very content by the end of the mobility programme. So were we the educators. We are confident that our newly acquired knowledge will be implemented in a positive way in our daily lessons. We look forward to hosting the programme in Greece.
